Family Fun
Nashville is known for its music—honky tonks and late night bars; line dancing and recording studios - but it is also an extremely kid and family-friendly town. Full of southern charm, a family trip to Nashville is exciting, fun, and totally walkable. And don’t worry, there is plenty of music for the kiddos too. On our Family Fun tour you will discover new places, stop and play, go inside for a sweet treat, learn about important people from Tennessee, listen to music, and even make some art!
Hello! My name is Sarah Wilson, and I’m a mom to three girls here in Nashville. I am the founder of a website called The Wandering Rumpus, which focuses on family travel, kid-friendly Nashville, and ways to expand your family’s worldview through travel and cultural experiences. Whether you venture to new places or enjoy a stay-cation in your hometown, there are always new things to learn and creative ways to have fun with the family. For us, home is right here in Nashville, and we’d like to show you around. You can find me at TheWanderingRumpus.com and on social media @TheWanderingRumpus.
This tour will focus on the south side of Broadway in downtown Nashville. Feel free to step inside any of the spots to explore further (some require admission), try some hands-on experiences with your kids, and be sure to tag us on social media along the way at @NashvilleSites. The tour takes about two hours depending on how long you spend at each location, but this is also a great family guide for an entire day, weekend, or more.
Also, be sure to listen until the end of each location narrative for a fun fact to share with your kids and a letter which will reveal a final question and answer to unscramble at the last stop! Once you receive the last of the twelve letters, let the kids use them to answer our final question. Join me as we have some family fun, now let’s get started.
