Flamingo Cocktail Club & Falcon Coffee Bar

Once home to the Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church, 509 Houston Street was converted to a cocktail club and coffee bar in 2018. From church to unorthodox business concept, co-owners Angela Laino, Alexis Soler, and Britt Soler opened the Flamingo Cocktail Club in 2018. The Solers are a dynamic sister duo who have a special talent for creating special spaces including East Nashville’s No. 308, opening in 2010, and Edgehill’s Old Glory, opening in 2016. The trio met working at the famous cocktail club The Florida Room in Miami, and the Flamingo Cocktail Club acknowledges its Miami connections in every aspect of its design. With a bright pink exterior, Mid-Century interior, intimate outdoor patio, wicker furnishings, and plentiful plants—the sanctuary turned specialty bar is one of a kind. Flamingo also has a strict dress-code; flip flops, baseball caps, and jean shorts are not allowed. To access the Flamingo Cocktail Club walk up the sidewalk and stairs on the right side of the building.

Falcon Coffee Bar is Flamingo’s perfect counterpart both in color and concept. The pink of the Flamingo, and its bright and fruity cocktails, contrasts with the black building front of the Falcon with its darker caffeinated offerings. It also marks the physical divide between the two businesses. The businesses do, however, work symbiotically. When Falcon closes, Flamingo opens. They share a bathroom and kitchen as well as a zero-waste mentality. Flamingo owners along with Andy Knepshield have curated Falcon with a focus on sustainability—featuring a vegan menu, biodegradable materials, compost bins, and a seasonal garden. Whether you want a morning coffee or an evening cocktail, the Flamingo and Falcon makes for the perfect stop to perch, sip, and see.

From the Houston Street entrance of Flamingo Cocktail Club and Falcon Coffee Bar, turn LEFT onto Houston Street. Continue walking onto Martin Street. At the next intersection, pause in front of the Nashville Historical Foundation marker titled “May Hosiery Mills.”

Description Flamingo Cocktail Club and Falcon Coffee Bar opened in 2018 in what was formerly Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church. Sisters Alexis and Britt Soler, who are also behind No. 308 in East Nashville and Old Glory in Edgehill, partnered with Angela Laino to open the adjoined spaces. The three met working at The Florida Room in Miami. This background is reflected strongly in the bright pink exterior, mid-century decor, and cocktail club feel. Flamingo and the Falcon Coffee Bar, appropriately painted black and co-owned by Andy Knepshield, focus on sustainability, with a vegan menu, biodegradable materials, compost bins, and a seasonal garden.
