Allentown Studios, formerly Jack’s Tracks

Like Chet Atkins who operated the RCA Studios, “Cowboy" Jack Clement was a Tennessee-born songwriter and producer. In fact, Jack Clement’s first work in Nashville was for Atkins at RCA in 1960. After a brief move to Texas, Clement returned to Nashville where he established Jack Clement Recording Studios in 1969, and then a second studio, Jack’s Tracks. This building was formerly Jack’s Tracks, which opened in 1971 at the height of Music Row’s recording heyday. Clement, also started his own record label, JMI, which released records by Don Williams, Stoney Edwards, Bob McDill, and many more.

Clement sold Jack's Tracks Recording Studio after just four years. Hall of Fame songwriter and music producer Allen Reynolds purchased the studio in 1975 for $65,000. Reynolds oversaw the recording and mixing of many albums right here—including records by Don Williams, Crystal Gayle, Emmylou Harris, and Kathy Mattea. Reynolds also produced all but one of Garth Brooks’s albums in this studio. Reynolds operated the studio from 1975 until 2010, when he sold it to Garth Brooks. Two years later, Brooks renamed the studio Allentown in honor of Allen Reynolds. The studio still serves as Garth Brooks’s main recording studio.
