Plaza Mariachi

Further ahead on Nolensville Pike, you will find the lively Plaza Mariachi, whose name pays homage to the genre of Mexican music characterized by trumpets, guitars, violins, and vocals, usually played by a small band of strolling musicians. Plaza Mariachi began in 2017 when Mark and Diane Janbakhsh transformed an abandoned Kroger Shopping Center into a cultural experience and destination—less than ten miles from downtown Nashville.

At Plaza Mariachi you will find food, culture, art, music, and retail—all under one roof. Plaza Mariachi has become a hub for the local Latino community as well as Nashvillians from all walks of life. This entertainment center features several restaurants, Tito’s Arcade, dress shops for weddings and quinceañeras, the Mariachi Hall of Fame, the Hispanic Family Foundation, and much more. The family-friendly space hosts events throughout the year and includes salsa dancing for the adults and a soccer field for the kiddos. The décor is designed in the style of traditional marketplace streets from old Mexico and weaves Latin culture into a walk of history. There are also many booths and storefronts, mostly owned and operated by local Latino businesses. Overall, Plaza Mariachi is a feast for your senses—and a vibrant and colorful place to visit, shop, and dine.

Fun Fact: Activa is a Spanish-language radio station, which broadcasts live from Plaza Mariachi. So check out 105.1 FM or 1240 AM to get a feel for the atmosphere at Plaza Mariachi.
