Cal Turner Family Center for Student Education

The Cal Turner Family Center for Student Education opened in 2014 and serves as both a center for campus life and a community resource for conferences, events, and seminars. The building features a 600-seat ballroom, a 50-seat executive board room, an auditorium, and a food court. The construction of the eco-friendly building, which is LEED certified and covered by a 17,000 square-foot green roof, was made possible by a $3 million donation from the Cal Turner Family Foundation.

The former CEO of Dollar General, Cal Turner, Jr. is a Nashville philanthropist and civic leader. The Cal Turner Family Center is one project of many that are part of the nearly $90 million that Meharry has invested in campus construction and renovation since 2007. A resource for both the college and the public, the building is a landmark of the tremendous growth Meharry has experienced in recent years. Inside, you’ll find the campus store and visitor’s center, so be sure to check it out!

Turn LEFT onto Albion Street and begin walking up the hill. Stop in front of the modern white building across the street on your right. This is your next stop—the S.S. Kresge Resource Center
