Founded by Glenn Daniels, Country Music Television (CMTV) went live in 1983 as a country music video channel airing from Hendersonville, TN. The channel featured live performances, concerts, country music videos, and later aired reality programming.CMT was later bought by Opryland in 1991 and changed its name from CMTV to CMT. In 2002, CMT offices relocated to its current location in the CMT Building in downtown Nashville from its previous location across from the Grand Old Opry. In 2016, the building was purchased by Ben H. Willingham III of AmCorp Realty Co.
