Woman's Suffrage
Congratulations! You have finished the Woman’s Suffrage Tour. You have walked in the footsteps of the women and men who made their mark on history—extending the right to vote for women in Tennessee and across the United States. The year 1920 settled the question for white women, but the disenfranchisement of African American women and men continued under Jim Crow laws across the south. Guaranteeing the right to vote for African Americans would require another grassroots movement that began after World War II. Nashville also played a pivotal role in the Civil Rights movement.
