In 1854, the Methodist Episcopal Church moved its publishing headquarters from Philadelphia to Nashville after being drawn to the more central location and the large number of congregations in the South. After moving locations several times within the city, a 1906 commercial style building was erected on Broadway. It is unique for its Neo-Classical decoration, especially the carved limestone entrance. The steel frame building, chosen to support the heavy printing equipment, was one of the first of its kind in the city. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
