In 1886, Thompson and Zwicker designed the third iteration of the Baptist Church of Nashville, later called Nashville First Baptist Church, building. The structure was an excellent example of the Victorian Gothic style, with lancet windows, two towers, and molded pointed arched entrances. The current building was built in 1970 by Edwin Keeble, but retained one of the original Gothic towers. The remaining three-staged brick tower with stone trim has offset buttresses, an open belfry, and a tall spire clad in green copper.
