Description

The Little Theatre stands as the oldest extant structure on Fisk University’s campus. Built originally around 1860 as a Union Army hospital barracks, the building became known as the “Railroad Hospital” during the course of the Civil War, due to its location near the railroad lines in what is now the trendy Gulch neighborhood. In 1873, the building was moved to its current position, and in 1935, Fisk University renovated the building into a performing arts space for student production. The Little Theatre remains in use to the present day for student and community use.
