Little Jimmy Dickens Statue

36.1616, -86.7779

Description

Commissioned in 2017 by the Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc, the Little Jimmy Dickens (1920-2015) statue was made by sculptor Ben Watts. The life size bronze sculpture stands in the Ryman Auditorium plaza and reminds visitors of the impact Dickens had on country music. Dickens became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1948, when the Opry was still at the Ryman Auditorium. He last performed on the Opry in late 2014, just days before his death in January 2015. The statue was unveiled in recognition of the Ryman Auditorium's 125th anniversary.
