Drawing inspiration from the Demonbreun Street terminus, Light Meander stands forty-five feet tall, spans three feet, and is twelve inches thick. Artists Laura Haddad and Tom Drugan used hardwood, stainless steel plates and tubes, acrylic rods as well as color-changing LED lights. The sculpture combines the fluidity of the Cumberland River and rigidness of Downtown while simultaneously combining past and present as well as natural and urban. The lights on the structure are programmed to change for specific events such as holidays and local dates of importance. The sculpture was commissioned by the Metro Nashville Arts Commission in 2015.
