Description

The R.E. Clay Education Building was built in 1958 and named in honor of Robert E. Clay in 1968. Clay (1875-1961) was a State Rosenwald School Agent, a representative of the State Department of Education, and the State Developer of Negro Education, a position he held from 1937 until his retirement in 1955. He graduated from Tennessee A&I in 1932. Clay Hall contains offices for the departments of Administration; Curriculum and Instruction, Psychology, Teacher Education and the office of the Dean of the School of Education.
