Centennial Sportsplex opened in 1990 as a municipal recreational sports center. It was renovated in 1998 to accommodate the Nashville Predators who officially moved their practice facilities to the Sportsplex in 1999. Also in 1999, the Les Speyer family funded the addition of a tennis facility in honor of former Metro Parks board member Ruthelia Lott Buchi (1919-1997). It was renovated again in 2014 and a new, two-story fitness center was added. The Sportsplex houses two full size, 200 x 85 foot ice rinks, a 50 x 25 meter competition pool, and a 25 x 16 yard recreational pool. The competition pool is named for three-time Olympic gold medalist Tracy Caulkins (1963- ).
