Description

Built in 1964, the building gave a home to the first performing rights agency in Nashville when Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) came to the city. Established in 1939, BMI started as an active performing rights agency in Chicago and New York. The company gave the first BMI Country Awards in Nashville in 1953 at the historic Ryman Auditorium. BMI has also helped artists such as Elvis Presley (1935-1977) and Dolly Parton (1946-) collect royalties and establish licensing agreements. The building was remodelled in 1973.
