Description

The Battle of Nashville Monument, commonly referred to as the "Peace Monument," was dedicated in 1927 to honor the sacrifices of the Union and Confederate soldiers of the Civil War as well as World War One veterans. It was commissioned by the Ladies' Battlefield Association and designed by Italian sculptor Giuseppe Moretti using white granite and bronze. The original monument, located on Franklin Pike, suffered damage in a tornado in 1974. A second version was rebuilt in its current location and was dedicated in 1999.
