Description
Alkebu-Lan Images was established in 1986 by Joseph (Yusef) Harris (1955-2022). The purchase was supported by the Metro Development and Housing Agency. The bookstore is housed in a former gas station. Harris created the bookstore to promote an appreciation of African culture and history. It sells books, art, jewelry, and apparel. In 2020, Harris and his son, Jordan Harris purchased a second location at 1410 Buchanan St. As of 2024, the property is being used for other ventures.
