Acuff Rose Publishing


Country music legend Roy Acuff and businessman Fred Rose established a publishing firm in 1942 on Eighth Avenue. They maintained a reputation to treat musicians with honesty and integrity and also operated the label Hickory Records. Musicians who published with Acuff Rose include Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers, and Hank Williams. In 2002, Sony/ATV Music paid $157 million to purchase the songs in the historic Acuff-Rose Publishing catalog.
